Access to safe, affordable housing is an important resource for former foster youth to succeed in higher education. Most campuses in the CSU and UC systems have student housing available, however most community colleges do not. Youth should be sure to ask about housing former foster youth when choosing a college. Another important housing option is the Transitional Housing Placement Plus Program (THP-Plus), which provides safe, affordable housing to over 1,000 former foster youth, age 18 to 24 in California. Download a list of THP-Plus providers by county.
