The Renaissance Scholars Program at CSU East Bay provides a variety of wraparound services and believes in the holistic support and betterment of the personal, academic, social and professional development of former foster youth. The program provides: year-round on-campus housing; priority registration; tutoring and mentoring; one-on-one liaison services; scholarships and emergency financial assistance; academic, career, and financial aid advising; psychological counseling; career development and internship opportunities; workshops; social activities; and field trips.

The CCSF Guardian Scholars program provides a comprehensive set of academic, vocational, and direct services (ie. housing, food, and transportation assistance) along with advocacy and mentoring. The program works closely with related school service providers (financial aid, admissions, tutoring, EOP&S) and a number of community providers (ILSP, transitional housing, mental health) to insure low or no cost access to necessary support services. Several types of scholarships are available along with application guidance for scholarships, the Chafee Grant, and financial aid programs. A Summer Academy is operated which is designed to prepare current or former foster youth in their junior, senior, or entering college freshmen for a smooth transition from high school to college. This summer program runs for 6 weeks from mid-June to late July. Eligible students must have at least one year when a minor either as a foster youth or were in an out of home placement in the juvenile justice system. Verification of status can be done by the Guardian Scholars program if desired once a short intake application is completed. The office is located in the Student Union, Room B. The community college Youth Empowerment Strategies for Success (YESS) programs are designed to assist current and former foster and probation youth successfully navigate the community college system while simultaneously teaching them basic life skills. YESS program services include dedicated program staff that assist students complete the FAFSA, Chafee grant application and other financial aid forms, refer and assist youth to access campus and community based resources and provide experience-based life skills training.

The Guardian Scholars Program at SFSU is a comprehensive program of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), in collaboration with the School of Social Work The program launched in the Summer 2005. Each year, the program serves 10 new students in each fall. GSP services include: year-round on-campus housing, scholarship opportunities, priority registration, summer bridge priority, mentorship, job and internship opportunities, financial aid packaging, social support, and fun activities.

The Cal Independent Scholars Network Program (CISN) provides support and resources to incoming freshman, transfer, and continuing students who are former foster youth, orphaned, or otherwise independent of parental support. CISN provides individual support, guidance, and resources through monthly academic and enrichment workshops, community building social events, computer assistance, finals packages, residence hall starter kits, academic supplies starter kits, and mentorship. Students are matched with mentors prior to their arrival at Cal.
