The EOP Office functions as the home base for all Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) students once they have been admitted to the University. All EOP students are offered support services designed to assist them in overcoming the many obstacles that a new educational and social environment may present. These services include assistance with the application process, peer and professional counseling, social and cultural activities, tutorial assistance, the First Year Experience, academic advising, learning assistance workshops, Summer Bridge, and a financial aid advisor.

The Guardian Scholars Programs at Sacramento State, UC Davis and Cosumnes River College were created to empower former foster to pursue their educational dreams. The program offers individualized attention and provides a broad array of support services to help current students build a solid educational foundation in order to realize their academic, personal and career goals. Equally important, the program aims to reduce barriers to higher education for high school students transitioning out of foster care. The Sacramento Region Guardian Scholars Consortium is a partnership of higher education institutions that is committed to providing intensive educational supports for foster youth; promoting educational advocacy for foster youth; and supporting college access and retention.

The Career Path Learning Community is a cohort-based, 15 unit program of study providing instruction in the areas of mathematics, English, Reading, and Study Skills content. It is a collaborative relationship supported by the Offices of Instruction and Student Services, specifically involving the Division of Literature and Languages, Department of Mathematics, Guidance Division, Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) and Cooperative Agencies and Resources for Education (CARE). The Learning Community provides former foster youth and other “at risk” students with histories of economic and educationally disadvantage, a variety of intensive counseling, academic and retention-focused support services, and economic services, which are complimented by federal and state financial aid funds administered through the College Financial Aid and Cal Works Offices. Foster youth are further provided "wrap around" services by community partners, as Youth Employment Services, County of Stanislaus, Community Services Agency, Alliance Work Net, and area community agencies and organizations serving foster youth. The Program is scheduled each year in the Fall and Spring semesters.
