Reducing Unplanned Pregnancy and Strengthening Academic Achievement

According to the The National Campaign to Prevent Unplanned Teen Pregnancy, one of the biggest barriers to completing college is unplanned pregnancy: a full 61% of women who have children after enrolling in community college do not finish their education. This has special implications for foster youth, given the high rate of pregnancy by age 21. To help college students prevent pregnancy, the National Campaign has developed a tool for college students that includes three free online lessons, developed for both men and women that take no more than 30 minutes to complete. Panelists from the National Campaign and the John Burton Advocates for Youth spoke about these valuable new tools and how you can utilize them to support successful college outcomes for foster youth.
