Search for Foster Youth Programs
Campuses across the state have programs specifically for foster youth.

Foster youth support programs go by various names including NextUp, Guardian Scholars, Renaissance Scholars, or others. These programs can include peer advisors and personal counselors and can provide academic advising, housing assistance, tutoring, mentoring, financial assistance, special accommodations for students with disabilities, counseling, social activities, and many other resources.

John Burton Advocates for Youth maintains a database of all campuses in California with a program specifically for foster youth:

Foster youth who are seeking assistance with enrolling in graduate school can get support through Mentoring for Academic and Professional Success (MAPS).

Out of State

For students planning to attend college outside of California, there may be a foster youth support program available. Fostering Success Michigan has developed a National Postsecondary Support Map that provides links and information on some 4-year campus-based support programs for students who experience foster care across the United States.
